About

Keansburg High School is a small comprehensive high school with an enrollment of approximately 560 students. Our size allows us to address the individual needs of our students as they prepare for post secondary studies and career opportunities. At Keansburg High School, we offer a wide variety of courses. Students may opt to take advanced placement courses in English, Math, Social Studies and Physics or they
may elect to participate in Monmouth County Vocational programs offered on a full day or half day basis. Our goal is to prepare our students to be productive members of society by strengthening their academic skills, developing workplace readiness skills and encouraging them to help others. We want our students to be prepared to meet the challenges of the 21 stCentury.

We offer a full array of schoolbased social and health clinic services to our students and their families. Keansburg High School and the Keansburg School District are fortunate to have received a $250,000 grant from the Department of Human Services to further assist our students and community. Throughout the year, specialized programs are offered to our students and community.

The Keansburg High School Guidance Department continues to increase services to students and parents. Career and post secondary education information is readily available to all students. Many seniors and parents have taken part in our post secondary conference sessions. Speakers are scheduled on a variety of subjects, and college orientation programs are offered throughout the year. Students are given the
opportunity to attend college fairs and visit various technical schools. Keansburg High School is implementing the state approved senior option which will allow our students the opportunity to pursue mentorships, internships and community service for high school credit.

Students must accrue 140 credits and pass the High School Proficiency Assessments (HSPA) to graduate. Over the past six years all academic programs have been revised and upgraded to meet the mandates of the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards. We provide five computer labs and three to six computer
workstations in each classroom. This year we have added courses to compliment our Interactive television course in health careers. This now provides us the framework necessary for our Health Careers Pathway. All of our classrooms have Internet access. Also, we offer an alternative education program for “at risk” students who are in danger of dropping out of school. We continue to strive to reduce our dropout rate.

Keansburg High School offers a full array of extracurricular and cocurricular activities for interested  students. Students may participate in football, crosscountry, basketball, baseball, bowling, softball, tennis, wrestling, band and cheerleading. Key club, student council, art honor society, mock trial club, yearbook and national honor society are just a few of the many clubs in which students may become involved. Community volunteerism is stressed by all our school organizations.

We continue to implement our Whole School Reform Model, “High Schools That Work,” which continues to assist us in strengthening our academic programs and enhancing our learning environment. We will continue to develop and offer courses that are both challenging and stimulating for our students. The “High Schools That Work” model enables us to provide our students with academic or career center “majors.” This allows our students to make prudent, educated, and well explored post secondary choices. The model also requires us to teach in extended periods of time. We continue to implement a full 4 x 4 block schedule based on a college semester system. We continue to explore educational opportunities that will not only benefit our students, but the community as well.

Keansburg High School is committed to providing all our students with a safe and secure learning environment.
